What it is
Linear focused shockwave is an energy-device treatment. A handheld applicator delivers low-intensity acoustic pressure waves through the skin into the target area, following a set protocol. Nothing is cut, and nothing is injected.
The waves are mechanical rather than electrical, and they are focused rather than scattered. Linear refers to the shape of that focus: the applicator treats along a line rather than a single point.
We use a PiezoWave² system with a focused applicator. Energy level and number of passes are set by protocol rather than by feel, so the session you have in week four matches the session you had in week one.
The intent is to support the local tissue response in the treated area. What that produces varies from man to man, and we do not put a figure on it.
A session runs in a private treatment room with one practitioner. Most men describe the sensation as a tapping or tingling. There is no planned downtime afterwards.
Who it’s for
- Men who want to start non-invasivelyNothing is cut and nothing is injected. For a lot of men this is the least involved place to begin.
- Men noticing a change in erectionsFirmness, consistency, or how long things last.
- Men who want a course, not a one-offShockwave is delivered as a course. A single session on its own is not the treatment, and we will not sell you one as though it were.
- Men already considering the D-ShotShockwave and the D-Shot are often run together as the Performance Programme. Whether that makes sense for you is worth half an hour of talking about first.
- Men aged 18 and overWe treat adult men only, and suitability is confirmed at consultation.
None of that gets decided on a web page. It gets decided in a private room, and if the answer is no, you hear it there.
What a course looks like
- ConsultationHalf an hour, private room, no commitment. You say what you have noticed, we go through your health history, and we agree whether shockwave is a sensible starting point at all.
- Protocol setEnergy level, applicator and number of passes are set for you and written down, so every session in the course is repeatable.
- SessionsDelivered in clinic across the course, usually three or six sessions, spaced to a schedule agreed with you. Allow around half an hour.
- ReviewWe check in as the course runs. If nothing is changing for you, we would rather say so than sell you another block of sessions.
- AftercareWritten aftercare after every session, and the clinic line stays open to you between appointments.
What it costs
- Single session
- £299
- Taster session
- £50
- Course of six
- £1,499
- Twelve-week course, with PRP
- £1,797
Most men are better served by a course than a single session, but that is a judgement for the consultation, not a page. The taster exists so you can feel what the device does before committing to anything.
File 04 / Honest expectations
What we will not tell you.
The parts a clinic page usually leaves out. We would rather you read them here than find them out later.
It does not work for every man
Response varies between individuals. Some men notice a change, some notice very little, and we cannot tell you in advance which you will be.
One session is not a treatment
Shockwave is delivered as a course. A single session on its own is not what the protocol is for, and we will not sell you one as though it were.
The evidence is not settled
Shockwave for erectile function is still an area under research, and we hold no proof of outcome for you specifically. We describe what the device does. We do not promise what it will do.
The sensation is real, if mild
Most men describe a tapping or tingling that is easy to sit through. A few find certain areas sharper. Say so during the session and the energy level is adjusted.
We do not diagnose
Menhancements is an aesthetics and sexual-wellness clinic. We do not diagnose conditions and we are not a substitute for your GP. If something about your health has changed, start there.
Questions men actually ask
What is shockwave therapy?
It is an energy-device treatment. A handheld applicator delivers low-intensity acoustic pressure waves through the skin into the target area under a set protocol. Nothing is cut and nothing is injected.
Where can I have shockwave therapy in Manchester?
At our Manchester clinic, 6 Minshull Street, M1 3ED. We also have clinics in Wilmslow and Leeds. Ask about availability at your preferred clinic when you enquire.
Does shockwave therapy hurt?
Most men describe it as a tapping or tingling sensation rather than pain. If a particular area feels sharper, tell the practitioner and the energy level is adjusted during the session.
How many sessions do I need?
It is delivered as a course, usually of three or six sessions. Which suits you, and how they are spaced, is agreed at consultation rather than decided in advance.
Is there any downtime after shockwave therapy?
There is no planned downtime and most men carry on with their day. Written aftercare is given in clinic after every session.
Can I have shockwave therapy and the D-Shot together?
Yes. Run together as a single course they are our Performance Programme. Whether that combination is right for you is decided at consultation.
